vvid · CAR VIDEO GUIDE

How to watch YouTube on your Tesla

Open vvid in your Tesla browser to watch the YouTube, Bilibili and Douyin links you have added. Organize videos on your phone first, then open your library with the same account in the car. No app installation needed.

Add a link on your phone. Open it in the car.

Before starting, connect your phone and car to the internet and have an email address that can receive a verification code. Use your phone or computer to add and organize videos; vvid video playback is available only on car screens.

  1. Copy a video link

Find a video you have the right to watch on YouTube, Bilibili or Douyin, then copy its link from the share menu. If a Douyin share includes extra text, you can copy the whole message.

  2. Sign in to vvid on your phone

Open vvid.tv, choose Log in / Sign up, enter your email and use the code sent to your inbox. New users get an account; returning users sign in with their existing email. No separate password is needed.

  3. Add the link to your library

Open your library, tap the + at the top right, paste the link and tap Add. vvid recognizes supported links. If a video shows Preparing, wait until the page says it is ready.

  4. Open the same account in your car

Enter vvid.tv in your Tesla browser and sign in with the same email address and a verification code. Open your library, find the video you added and tap to play. You can bookmark the address for your next visit.

Supported links still depend on the video being available

vvid accepts YouTube, Bilibili and Douyin video links. Preparing and playing a video also depends on the source's availability, access restrictions and your current plan.

A practical way to get started

  • Add one accessible video first, then check that it opens and plays in your own car browser.
  • Manage several videos from your phone or computer using the same account's library.
  • Members can import supported YouTube and Bilibili playlists. See the tutorial for the steps.

Some videos may not play

  • The original is deleted, private or subject to regional, age, membership or copyright restrictions.
  • The video uses DRM protection, such as protected paid films, or the website or link format is unsupported.
  • The video exceeds your plan's per-video duration limit, your account allowance is used up, or the network is unstable.

Start with Free and check it works for you

You do not need to subscribe before adding a video. Try the workflow with the Free plan, then decide whether an upgrade fits your viewing needs.

Up to 20 personal saved links

Free has a personal saved-link limit and a viewing-time allowance. Check your account's usage information for your current available time, and the pricing page for plan details.

Organize on your phone. Watch in your car.

Use phones, tablets and computers to add videos and organize your library. Video playback is limited to car screens; subscribing does not enable phone or computer playback.

A few questions before you start

Does this mirror my whole phone screen to the Tesla?

No. This workflow saves video links to your vvid library, then opens and plays them in your car browser. It does not transmit your phone's home screen or mirror entire mobile apps.

Do I need to install an app or connect a cable?

This guide uses your car's built-in browser to visit vvid.tv. It does not require a vvid app or a cable to transmit your phone's screen. Both your phone and car need an internet connection that can access the service.

Will it work on every Tesla model and browser version?

The same experience cannot be guaranteed across every model, firmware version and network. Try the Free plan on your own car to check the page, sign-in and video playback before deciding whether to subscribe.

Why can't I see the video I added on my phone?

Check that both devices use the same email account, then refresh the library in the car. If the video still shows Preparing or an error, check its status and whether the link is valid. The tutorial also demonstrates adding a video and waiting for it to be ready.

What should I check if playback stalls or a link will not open?

Check the car's network connection, whether the original video is accessible and whether your account shows a quota or duration limit. Try another short, publicly accessible video to narrow down the issue. vvid does not promise access to every website or video.

Start with one link, then try it in your car

Choose a video you know, follow the tutorial to add it to your library, then sign in to the same account in the car.
